Creative writing competition: Cheshire Prize for Literature 2024/2025

This year's prize includes a new category for flash fiction

Entries to the 2024/5 Cheshire Prize for Literature may be in the form of short stories, children's literature, scriptwriting, poetry and flash fiction. This year's contest is for writing on any theme, and has various age categories for children and adults.

Winners in the 4-16 categories will receive book tokens, and winners in the 18-25 and over categories will be awarded a cash prize.

The competition is open to anyone who has lived, worked or studied in Cheshire, including the Wirral and Halton.

Enter short stories up to 1,500 words, poems up to 100 lines, children's literature up to 1,500 words, scripts no longer than 15 minutes in length and flash ficiton up to 360 words. All entries must be original and unpublished.

Entry is free.
