The Calum Macleod Memorial Prize commemorates what would have been the 21st birthday of Calum Macleod, who died in 2007. Following his death, his father Sinclair was motivated to fulfil his lifetime's ambition of publishing a book (The Reluctant Detective), which in turn led to Kim and Sinclair Macleod (pictured) setting up self-publishing company Indie Authors World.
The winner of the prize will receive a publishing package including editing, cover design and interior layout for print and ebook editions of a fiction or non-fiction title.
To enter, submit a first chapter up to 2,500 words, a synopsis of no mroe than 350 words and up to 100 words on what publishing the book would mean to you.
The entry fee is £35. Proceeds from the competition will be donated to Calum's tribute fund at Meningitis Now.
The closing date is 8 November.
