The competition for young writers asks for interpretations of a Benjamin Franklin quotation

The 2020 competition quotation is: 'Glass, China, and Reputation, are easily crack'd, and never well mended.' (Poor Richard's Almanack, 1750).

Entrants must be between 18 and 25. Enter fiction or non-fiction responding to the quotation, between 1,000 and 1,500 words.

The first prize is £750 and the second prize is £500. Both winning entries will be published online.

Entry is free. Each writer may submit one entry.

The closing date is 31 October.
