Submissions for the next round of Penguin’s development programme for new writers from under-represented backgrounds open on 7 November

This round is for commercial fiction, with writers invited to submit in the genres of crime, thrillers, family drama, comedy, romance and love stories.

The WriteNow programme has been designed to give writers the tools to navigate the publishing industry and launch successful careers as authors. Writers accepted on the programme receive a free workshop, feedback, year-long editorial development and £1,000.

Writers applying for Write Now should be unpublished, unsigned writers based in the UK and coming from a background or community under-represented in publishing. To apply, send a 1,000-word writing sample.
