The annual competition is for fiction and non-fiction by writers aged 18-25
Writers entering the prize are asked to explore the contemporary relevance of a quotation from Benjamin Franklin. The 2023 quote is:
'Truth will be Truth tho' it sometimes prove(s)... distasteful.' A Dissertation on Liberty and Necessity, Pleasure and Pain (1725)
There is a first prize of £750 and a runner-up prize of £500. Winning entries will be published on the Benjamin Franklin House and Telegraph websites.
Enter original, unpublished fiction or non-fiction between 1,000 and 1,500 words.
Entry is free. Each writer may submit one entry.
The closing date is 30 November.
