The five category winners will now compete for the Book of the Year Award
The five category winners will now compete for the Book of the Year Award
• The Costa First Novel Award winner is Frances Spufford for Golden Hill
• The Costa Novel Award goes to Sebastian Barry for Days Without End. Sebastian won the Book of the Year Award in 2008 with The Secret Scripture.
• The Costa Biography Award winner is Keggie Carew for Dadland.
• The Costa Poetry Award winner is Alice Oswald for Falling Awake.
• The Costa Children's Book Award winner is Brian Conaghan for The Bombs That Brought Us Together.
Each category winner receives £5,000. The Costa Book of the Year Award winner will be announced on 31 January.
