Chris Evans' hugely popular children's writing competition is supported this year by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall
'This year to mark our fabulous fifth anniversary we wanted to do something super special,' said Chris Evans. 'So we couldn’t believe our luck when HRH the Duchess of Cornwall invited us to hold our live on-air final in the stunning surroundings of St James’s Palace. She’s a supporter of the competition and cannot wait to meet and greet this year’s fifty finalists on the day. Today's launch video featured famous faces including Paloma Faith, Hugh Bonneville, Chris Martin, Ed Sheeran and Gary Lineker.
Last year's competition attracted nearly120,000 entries.
The 500 Words competition is for short stories up to 500 words by children aged between 5 and 13. The competition is in two sections: ages 5-9 and 10-13. There are gold, silver and bronze prizes in each category.
The closing date for 500 Words 2015 is 28 February.
