The competition is for writing inspired by work by the Nobel Prize for Literature-winning Sardinian writer Grazia Deledda
The novel chosen to inspire competition entrants is Canne al Vento (Reeds in the Wind). Enter original, unpublished fiction in English up to 5,000 words that reflects or echoes the themes of Grazia Deledda's writing, such as identity, class and religion. Include a cover letter explaining how the entry dovetails with Grazia Deledda's work.
The winner will receive €1,000, travel costs to Sardinia up to €1,000 for the award ceremony in Galtellì from 25 to 27 June, accommodation and publication. Four runners up will win travel costs to Sardinia, accommodation and publication. There is also a Sardinian language category.
Entry is free. The closing date to enter the Galtellì Literary Prize is 15 April.
