New Writing North is inviting entries from creative writers in the North of England for its £2,000 award

The fellowship, which is given in memory of writer Julia Darling, supports a writer for a period of travel. It can be used for travel in the UK or internationally. It can also be used by a group of writers to fund residential retreats.

The fellowship is open to novelists, poets and playwrights from the North of England who have at least one professionally published or produced work to their name.

To apply, send a description up to 500 words about how you would use the resource to further your creative work, a short biography up to 300 words and a statement up to 300 words about why now would be a good time for you to receive support.

The closing date to apply for the Julia Darling Fellowship is 23 March.
