Convey the specifics of a memory in this week’s creative writing exercise
Think of a memory that comes with a very strong visual image for you. What can you see, in your mind’s eye?
First, look at the big picture. What is going on? Who is there? What are they doing?
Now, home in on the details. Make precise notes about colours, textures, sounds, smells, tastes. What fragments of dialogue can you remember? What were people wearing? What did the environment feel like?
Using these details, write a passage of prose or poetry concentrated around the memory.
