Build on a simple truth with this creative writing exercise
For today's exercise, start by finding out something you didn't already know.
Wikipedia would probably be a good start. Don't worry about fact-checking, the fact you discover doesn't have to be accurate.
Now, describe for yourself a character who knows this fact. Write a quick pen portrait of their character, tastes and lifestyle. It doesn't have to relate back to the fact but it could do. What else do they believe or live their life by?
Now, throw your character into an uncomfortable situation, one that challenges those beliefs. How do they react? How do they get through the situation?
Now... write on!
