Celebrate and fire up your creative mind with our explosive fifteen-minute creative writing exercise

Ignite your creative spark with this week's exercise, inspired by fireworks

Set the timer for five minutes. Begin with the word ‘Fireworks’ and keep writing until the buzzer goes. Don’t censor what you write – keep going.

Set the timer for another five minutes. Write about a party that features fireworks. What is being celebrated – e.g. a baptism, wedding, funeral or graduation? Who is the celebration for?

Content continues after advertisements

Spend the last five minutes crafting the first few paragraphs of a story or the first draft of a poem. Get the ideas on paper – tidy up later.
