Get smart with your writing by using headgear to spark a new idea

Set the timer for three minutes and jot down a list of hats you’ve worn during your life – for school, for work or for leisure. Did you ever have a favourite hat? What was it like? What happened to it?

Set the timer for another three minutes and imagine buying a hat from a charity shop or a store you’ve not been to before. What happens when you wear this for the first time?

For the remaining time, draft two flash fiction pieces or outlines for longer stories exploring these ideas.
