With another storm forecast this weekend, extreme weather is the theme for this week's creative writing exercise

For two minutes, make notes of words and phrases that you associate with stormy weather.

For another two minutes, jot down ideas about a situation where stormy weather is either preventing someone from doing something, or forcing them to do something out of the ordinary.

Fot the next ten minutes, write the first paragraphs or stanzas of a new piece of prose or poetry, creating both the atmosphere of the weather and its effect on your protagonist's circumstances.
