Coffee-break exercise: Hot hot hot

Instead of wilting in the heatwave, let it inspire some new creative writing in this week's exercise

For a few minutes, free-write around the idea of 'hot'. Don't think about it to much, just write down your initial thoughts, and any words and phrases that spring to mind.

For another couple of minutes, go through what you've written and think about how you could use one of more of the things you've written as a springboard for a new piece of writing that in some way conveys the idea of heat, or has a heat-related theme.

Spend at least 10 minutes getting your creative writing brain warmed up and making a start. Don't get hot under the collar - just write, and have fun in the sun!
