Timely Topic Throne Competition

Sorry, this competition is closed for entries, please select a competition category from the menu on the left to view our current competitions.

This May marks 200 years since the coronation of Queen Victoria. There'll be another royal baby along soon too. Oh and some television show or other is reaching its blood-splattered, dragon-scorched climax. [If only we hadn't waited the entirety of its run for the next instalment in book form.]

Anyway, all of that got us thinking about royals, succession and symbols of rule, so we decided to give you "throne" as the theme for our latest Timely Topic web-exclusive competition. Whether you follow our train of thought or take an entirely different approach, your flash story must touch on a "throne", literal or figurative, in 500 words or fewer. Needless to say, you won't have space to spin an epic seven-house saga.
